Gluten-Free Self-Saucing Chocolate Pudding (Easy Oven-Baked Dessert)

There’s something incredibly comforting about a warm chocolate dessert, and this Gluten-Free Self-Saucing Chocolate Pudding is a timeless favourite. As it bakes, a rich chocolate sauce forms underneath a soft, fluffy sponge, making every spoonful indulgent and satisfying.
This recipe uses everyday ingredients and gluten-free self-raising flour, making it a great option for families managing dietary needs without sacrificing flavour. Baked in individual ramekins, it’s perfect for sharing or enjoying as a special treat at home.

Ingredients
For the pudding
25 g butter, melted
2 tbsp Dutch cocoa powder
¼ cup caster sugar
½ cup milk
1 cup gluten-free self-raising flour
For the sauce
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tbsp Dutch cocoa powder
1 ¼ cups boiling water
Method
Preheat oven to 180°C and lightly grease six ¾-cup oven-safe ramekins.
Combine melted butter, cocoa powder, caster sugar and milk in a bowl.
Sift in the gluten-free self-raising flour and mix gently until just combined.
Divide the batter evenly between the ramekins.
Mix brown sugar and cocoa powder and sprinkle over the batter.
Carefully pour the boiling water over the top without stirring.
Bake for 30 minutes, until the sponge is set.
Serve warm with ice cream, whipped cream or a dairy-free alternative.
